I don’t know why – I don’t recall reading it anywhere – but I just knew that stopping by the Louvre at sunset would be a beautiful sight. And fortunately, it didn’t disappoint!
Given our short visit, we decided against visiting the Louvre as it’s so huge you could easily spend an entire day there. But next time for sure!
The whole plaza is gorgeous. With the old and new together, and the sun setting just over the arches to the west.
The only complaint one could have about it were the predatorial Nigerians (?) who were trying to sell Eiffel Tower statues to tourists.
But nothing could ruin the beautiful sunset we had!
And the sun made the museum beam!
And what was really neat to see was how the sunset reflected off the windows, making them glow.
And once the sun was down and the lights came on, the museum took on a whole new glow.
A magical night and a great way to end our trip to Paris, and Europe!
We flew home the next morning from Orly. The airport was so small…and…weird. But I used my last 10 Euro to stock up on fresh croissants to bring home.
Our flight to London was on one of those huge plans with two aisles and like, 3 different degrees of first class. So when we boarded our return flight from Paris and found it to be a drastically smaller plane without tv screens or any of the nicer amenities, we were pissed. Fortunately the food was nicer and they gave us an ipad fully loaded with movies and TV shows and games to keep us occupied during the 8 hour return flight. Side note, ‘This Is 40’ was hysterical!
And after those 8 hours, we were home again.
Thanks for taking the journey with me! Back to DIY fun in June!
