So, normally, DC would be an absolute ZOO now, blanketed in tourist in town for the Cherry Blossoms. Mother nature seems to have had other plans, and instead we’re under a winter weather advisory.
Thanks for nothing, Phil.
So since the cherry trees are NOT blossoming just yet, I turned to my local craft store for some faux cherry blooms.
Part of the reason for the flowers is for a new Target Threshold purchase I made. I’m participating in Roo (NiceGirlNotes)’s DietBet and to reward myself on a successful first week I allowed myself the splurge. Honeycomb? So spring! (And Such a West Elm knockoff! Holla!)
So pretty and so springy too! (Also those mercury votive holders were Target finds after christmas – 90% off made them under 50 cents each!).
Of course our friends Fox and Squirrel are perched in the middle, waiting for spring to actually show up. Late.
Of course the smattering of my milk glass collection you first saw for my Christmas Milk Glass Mantle has also joined in the spring fun here too.
On the other side of the mantle, my default tall vase usually has some beach grasses in it to match the photo set above the fireplace. (They’re of an abandoned and frequently buried in sand ferry house in the Outer Banks.) To freshen up I just tucked a sprig of the blossoms in. Not perfect, but that’s kinda my style.
So with a few springs of faux cherry blossoms, at least my home is feeling springlike despite the delayed chill outside!
Have you resorted to any faux flowers to brighten your day?
